The 42.000 sf medical office building in Encinitas was completed in 2009, as the final addition to the comprehensive 10-acre medical office campus serving the north county. The facility includes a radiation imaging center, oncology offices, children’s specialists, as well as orthopedic & sports medicine offices.
The new building is integrated into the existing complex of buildings via a grand water feature and expansive ‘crossroads’ plaza. The water feature was designed to be visible from both the upper arrival plaza (to greet arriving patients) & the lower central plaza (to offer visual drama to the lower space). Colorful plantings flank both sides of the stepping, tile-faced waterfall.
Raised planter walls in the ‘crossroads’ plaza feature specimen palm trees & offer quiet seating for patient comfort. Grassy panels help to reduce reflected light & soften the open space between buildings.
