Taylor Library

This community library and public park serve the Pacific Beach community. The building’s bold geometry takes its form from the nautilus shell, reflecting the community’s close connection with the ocean.
Picture1Likewise, the expansive entry plaza radiates out from a central pivot point within the building, helping to integrate the indoor & outdoor environment. Curved concrete seatwalls and exposed aggregate paving form gentle ‘waves’ through the plaza.
The project occupies an entire city block, with the adjacent public park offering a comprehensive community gathering space for concerts, fairs, and other recreational activities.
Groves of trees offer shade along the street and tall palm trees form a visual corridor to the main entryway.
Sand Play PiecesThe public park features rolling hills of grass and large shade trees, along with a beach-themed tot lot area featuring artist-designed custom play pieces.
