This Design-Build renovation project transformed 14,000 sf of Sharp Memorial Hospital’s ‘Allison deRose’ Rehabilitation Center into a modern healing environment, with a wide range of rehabilitation services for patients who have suffered brain and spinal cord injuries, catastrophic strokes, neurological issues, sprains, strains and other injuries.
This $6.4 million project also includes an outdoor courtyard for therapeutic activities, a secluded courtyard for relaxing, quiet spaces for family gatherings, as well as enhanced views of nature from each patient room. A series of curved walls surrounding the rehab courtyard provide a sense of enclosure for patient activities, while vine-covered ‘greenscreen’ fences outside individual patient windows allow views to nature with a sense of privacy.
